Diaper Bags – What do I choose: fashionable or practical?
We are born only to grow and give birth to others. Our own offsprings which in turn will grow in their own time and offer the joy of grand parenting. What do these position have all in common you might ask? Well besides other remarkable coincidences babies, parents and grandparents will be, at any moment of a regular day, in contact with a diaper.
I know I know you were not expecting that. But the diaper is a tiny brick in your life. You are born into diapers. By the time you have done with those you would have learned many things. To walk and run, to speak, to eat by yourself, what a bathroom is. You know, the works. And you grow some more, you mature, get to college, move in together with the girlfriend, get a dog. Get married and boom. Diapers again. And again and again and again? Time will come for you to send your own kids to college. Soon they will be getting married too. Am I heading to diapers? Yeah you got me now.
And because diapers are so common in life and because we are always on the move in this fast changing lanes life, and because I have children of my own, I came to realize at a certain point of my fatherly existence that baby diaper bags can be so useful. Not purses. Diaper bags I said.
It was really easier with Dolby. Yes you should have heard him as a puppy barking and no he is not my first child. Not that it was so easy bearing the responsibility of a dog, but walking him around and picking up his droppings was entirely different than what had followed.
I had my first daughter. And I received the baptism of diaper changing. Hard at first. More challenging than Dolby. Piece of cake later. But being so busy, both I and the wife made us realize that as much as we would like to, we will never be around all the time for our baby daughter. So when her grandparents were so thrilled to have her around we started moving my baby a lot. Everywhere across the city, so she would be in fact happy and relaxed all the time.
Among other things we had bought 6, that’s right, six I said, baby diaper bags. One for me and one for my wife and two more for each family. Everyone had their own. Regular, plain, cheap, expensive, you name it. Whether it was a designer diaper bag or not it was sure useful.
It does not matter which one you choose or how you buy it. Actually it does. While the wife browsed and browsed through shops allover town, I ordered one online. That’s how we hit the first two. After we merged with our families to better handle a 1 year own and still be able to work for a living we got the rest. A diaper bag was always welcomed and put to use of course. Color, style, brand. As I said they all varied. I wasn’t trouble by the fact that mine would not fit my suit in the morning. My baby came first. I chose it as practical as possible but I neglected the design. Is that a problem? Maybe yes. But I can always borrow the hottest baby diaper bag from my wife. Or her mother. Or my father – he bought it actually for my mother but has been using it ever since he had to be the on-call grandpa.
So I have no straight answer to that question. Just choose one. It can be both fashionable and practical. Depending on your budget that is. As for me I know that more of those bags will continue to come in very handy. A brother or a sister is coming soon.
